Barn Owl (Tyto Alba) - Tucker (RIP)
The common Barn Owl can be found pretty much anywhere in the world except desert and polar areas.
A popular owl with it's heart shaped white face and sandy coloured plumage, with white spotted chest it is often heard at night with a piercing screech and seen as a silent flying, ghost like figure with it's large wingspan in comparison to it's body. In the wild they will catch mice, voles and other small mammals as well as moths.
In captivity we feed day old chicks and mice as well as providing fresh water.
It is illegal to take a Barn Owl from the wild and those that are captive bred must be ringed and registered with the IBR. These captive owls must not be bought or sold without the relevant A10 paperwork.
Tucker was captive bred within the county of Shropshire.
He was hatched on 11th July 2010 and came to us on 5th August 2010 when he was just under 4 weeks old.
Owls eats day old chicks which we bulk buy frozen.
