Chickens
Every domestic chicken has derived from the Red Junglefowl.
Now, however they come in hundreds of breeds with a wealth different shapes, sizes and colours, including pure breeds, which people breed and show to get them to the pinnacle of their show standard, and hybrids, bred to produce high production for egg laying or meat supply.
The humble chicken is the most widespread and common bird with the highest population worldwide.
But some of these breeds are now so few in numbers that they are considered rare breeds and we, personally, favour these breeds to help keep them alive!
We keep several different breeds of chicken, chosen by us for our own personal taste, many of them are rare breeds.
We show our birds but also take great pleasure in breeding new stock, of which we sell on the surplus birds or hatching eggs in order to help feeding of the flock!
Chickens are great fun and relatively easy to keep even in a small back garden you can accomodate a few hens to provide you with fresh eggs every day!
