Ducks
Ducks come in many shapes and sizes, they are waterfowl and can be found in the wild on both fresh and sea water.
Alhtough ducks can be found as wildfowl man has also domesticated some strains of ducks over centuries to perfect them for their qualities in meat and egg production but also their feathers, in particular the down. All domestic ducks are descended from the Mallard, with the exception of the Muscovy.
The plumage in the male or drake is usually spectacularly coloured whereas the female or duck is somewhat duller. There are exceptions to this rule where both sexes have the same plumage, as in the Tree Ducks, Runners and Aylesburys we keep.
